Elopements to Sequel Weddings (and everything in between)

With 2020 changing the way we celebrate together, the wedding community has found unique, special and safe ways to still have your special day. Now elopements aren’t anything new.

Now, more than ever, couples are switching up their plans, making it just a little more intimate but still as beautiful as ever. From these adaptations, new event types like micro weddings, minimonies and sequel weddings are all viable options to celebrate your special day without the wait. Now that Oahu has moved into Tier 3 and is allowing for gatherings up to ten people, there is no better time.

Elopements

Elopements are often most known for being intimate, secretive and of-the-moment. These include very small guest counts, usually just the officiant and witness attend, with minimal décor and rentals. A day that is 100% just about you and your partner and slower-paced to allow for you both to soak in all the sights, sounds and feelings of the day. Add a couple extra special seating options, like our luxury or garden sofa, that can double as a space for you two to relax but also create some gorgeous shot stopping photos.

Micro Weddings

A micro wedding, as seen in its name, is small - guest counts aren’t usually larger than 50 and most often includes immediate family and super close friends. The micro wedding works as a cross between an elopement and a big, traditional wedding. Working with a reduced guest size, like in elopement, you have more time and money to put towards more specific and special details. Adding special lighting, elegant lounge furniture, or a gorgeous altar can really help tie everything together. Looking to create a chic dinner reception for your guests? Our white farm tables and luxury loveseat pair beautifully and can allow you as a couple to sit with your family and friends in a banquet style setup.

Minimonies

Truly a moment of dedication, a minimony is a simple ceremony for a couple to share words with each other and say “I do”. A minimony is different because of its size and it’s significance. Truly a commitment ceremony between you and your partner. Having a simple but meaningful event like this also calls for a smaller guest count. Don’t forget to consider some key rentals to add an element of your style to your event. Simple yet stunning pieces like our Rickie Altar can add a simple touch of elegance and help highlight your vows.

Sequel Weddings

Sequel weddings are the larger, fully envisioned wedding of your dreams, that follow after your minimony. The term “Sequel wedding” was initially coined to refer to couples who wanted to have two very different weddings, whether it be for cultural, religious or other reasons. The term has expanded to also include couples facing wedding postponements in the time of Covid and rethinking the order of their life events. Having your minimony allows you to honor your initial plan and wedding date then further down the line, throwing a larger, sequel wedding to fully bring your wedding vision to life.

With all these options available, ultimately it's up to you as the couple to decide what event fits you both. Whether you decide to have a very intimate and significant elopement or prefer to have a minimony and plan your sequel wedding, make it special for you! Our rentals will help to create memories that will last a lifetime.
